Bishop’s University is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill a Temporary full-time position as an Admissions Officer in the Enrolment Services department.  Reporting to the Manager Student Recruitment, Admissions and Student Exchange, the incumbent will work with minimal direct supervision in a team-based environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating and making decisions on student admission applications to the university with a focus on both incoming and outgoing student exchange partnerships, MELS Bursary Program, international student integration, and other administrative tasks as required. The successful incumbent must stay up to date on the admissions and registration regulations and policies of Bishop’s University. We are looking for a highly adaptable dynamic team player. This position has a work week of 32.5 hours from Monday to Friday and the working period will begin in May 2019. The period of employment will not exceed two years.

Nature of duties and responsibilities

  • Counsel prospective students and family members about admissions criteria;
  • Counsel prospective outgoing exchange students about study abroad options and criteria;
  • Review student applications to make University admission decisions;
  • Provide tracking and timely follow through on inquiries and requests;
  • Participate in on-campus visit programs and events;
  • Keep documentation updated such as directories, procedure manuals, program templates, articulation agreements, transfer credit policies, bilateral agreements, etc.;
  • Assist with admissions training;
  • Assist with creation and upkeep of online admissions application for exchange students;
  • Adheres to legislation concerning immigration, study permits, health insurance, and all other related fields;
  • Collaborate with Student Recruitment & Admissions Officers on the follow-up and processing of applicants;
  • Offer assistance and participate in office administrative work as needed.
  • Performs additional similar / related tasks as required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University Degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum 1 year in a similar work environment;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and strong conversational skills in French;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Computer proficiency including databases and/or contact management system;

Classification:  Class 9     $21.17 to $27.61   per hour  (APBU – unionized position)
